Atlanta Man Arrested For Role In January Home Invasion

Demonte Mitchell faces six felony counts and a misdemeanor charge after violent home invasion in SW Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. – An Atlanta man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for his role in a late January home invasion.

Demonte Savalas Mitchell, 32, has been charged with multiple violent felonies in wake of the January 29 home invasion at a Southwest Atlanta residence, said David J. LeValley, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office, and Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields announced in a statement.

It’s alleged that Mitchell forced entry into a Southwest private residence while armed with a handgun on January 29 with the intention of stealing property. He allegedly confronted a juvenile occupant/resident inside the home and violently assaulted them, including a sexual assault.

Mitchell now faces APD charges of felony armed robbery, felony first degree home invasion, felony aggravated assault, felony sodomy, felony criminal attempt to commit rape, felony false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charge of battery substantial physical harm.

He was taken into custody without incident at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday at a residence located at the 400 block of Ivy Chase Loop in Dallas, Georgia by the FBI’s Atlanta Metro Major Offender Unit, Atlanta P.D. Fugitive Squad, and assistance by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

The case is being worked by the Atlanta Police Department and the FBI.
