The woman identified Chandler and Perkins as the men she saw covering their faces with black masks just outside of Menefee’s apartment building. The witness told authorities the men entered the apartment seconds later.
Both Chandler and Perkins told police they were outside of the apartment building when they heard the gunshots and ran into Menefee’s apartment to render aid.
Evidence, however, collected from the murder scene disputed their story.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Vincent Faucette and Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Morris with the assistance of Fulton County District Attorney Investigator Bernice Higgins.
Detective Summer Benton from the Atlanta Police Department led the initial investigation.
