On Monday July 5, 2021, Atlanta Police responded to Mitchell Ave. and Central Ave. after a group of people set up tents on the grounds of City Hall for a demonstration regarding individuals experiencing homelessness. Representatives from the APD HOPE Team, HOUSE ATL, Partners for HOME, and the Mayor’s Office met with the organizers, listened to grievances, and connected the individuals experiencing homelessness present with housing and additional services.

After several hours, and following the discussions between the APD HOPE Team, HOUSE ATL, Partners for HOME, and the Mayor’s Office, the majority of the demonstrators left the City Hall grounds.  However, a smaller group remained who refused to comply with the directives of the Atlanta Police Department and were subsequently arrested.

One arrestee complained regarding a minor cut and neck pain and was transported to the hospital for treatment prior to their being transported to the jail.
