Camp Rooftop And Doggo Days: Atlanta This Weekend

Kick back by the campfire at Camp Rooftop or root for Atlanta United at the Benz this July 4th Weekend.

ATLANTA, GA — Although July 4th takes place on a Thursday this year, there's still plenty more fun to be had this weekend. If you're feeling a tad nostalgic, there’s Camp Rooftop at Ponce City Market or Saturday Morning Cartoons at Sidebar. For a family-friendly affair, bring your children to the East Atlanta Library for a lesson in screen printing. Favorites like First Friday at the High Museum also return.

For those missing the nostalgia of summer camp, Camp Rooftop at Ponce City Market was made just for you. On select days this summer (including this Friday!) the rooftop will be transformed into an Adult Summer Camp. There will be camp-inspired cuisine and cocktails, as well as ghost stories around a campfire and campy photo stations for plenty of fun, photo ops.

First Friday At The High Museum Of Art

Neighborhood: Midtown

If you’re not too exhausted from all the 4th of July festivities, head to the High Museum for First Friday. Taking on the theme of Frequency Friday, this month's event will feature tunes from a local DJ, an instructor-led drawing class and much more. Don't forget to cool down with a glass of the museum’s signature Picasso Punch sangria.

Screen Print A Postcard

Neighborhood: East Atlanta

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses mesh to transfer ink onto a surface. It's a process that's intriguing to say the least, and children over the age of five will have the opportunity to test out their screen-printing skills at the East Atlanta Library. The library will teach those in attendance how to screen print by making their own postcard.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Neighborhood: Downtown

For many of us, there wasn’t much that was able to beat the feeling of waking up on Saturday morning, eating our favorite cereal and binge-watching hours worth of cartoons. Luckily, Sidebar is hosting a Saturday Morning Cartoons series to recreate that moment of childhood bliss for patrons with cartoon viewings, classic cereals and of course, mimosas.

WOW! Afro Festival

Neighborhood: West End

Enjoy a day filled with African music, food and drinks, fashion, games and arts at the Atlanta stop for the WOW! Afro Festival. Depending on the type of ticket purchased, admission gets you food tastings, access to a cash bar, live musical performances, an African Art Gallery and more. Ticket options include general admission with tastings and VIP.

Doggo Days

Neighborhood: West End

Monday Night Brewing is giving dog lovers a day all their own as part of their Doggo Days series. All pups are welcome during the event, which will include treats from Taj Ma-Hound Gourmet Dog Treats. For humans, there will be brunch items from Say Cheese SweetCakes and leash making with Atlanta Rescue Dog Cafe.

Atlanta United vs. New York Red Bulls

Neighborhood: Downtown

If you have yet to check out an Atlanta United game, consider using the long, holiday weekend to root for one of the city’s most exciting teams. This Sunday’s game comes shortly after it was revealed that Atlanta United have signed a new team member, Emerson Hyndman. With this weekend’s game taking place at the mid-point of MLS season, expect plenty of excitement!
