Decatur Book Festival And House In The Park: Atlanta This Weekend
Dance with thousands of house-music fans at House In The Park or take in the sights at the annual Dragon Con Parade.
ATLANTA, GA — Although summer is coming to an end, there are plenty of events and activities taking place in Atlanta this weekend to bid farewell to the season. In addition to an assortment of Labor Day staples like the Decatur Book Festival and House In The Park, this weekend will also welcome several foodie-friendly events.
Chefs Bruce Moffett and Pat Pascarella are set to host a Sunday dinner that will blend the cuisine of the South with that of New England. There will also be a special pop-up preview of the upcoming Wonderkid restaurant.

Decatur Book Festival
Neighborhood: Downtown Decatur
Whether you’re a fan of fiction or live for an insightful work of non-fiction, the Decatur Book Festival has something for everyone. A local favorite, this year’s Decatur Book Festival will feature plenty of special events, including a “Perfect Pan Pizza” class at the Culinary Stage, several author-led talks and plenty of vendors.

Charlie Wilson Live
Neighborhood: Chastain Park
If you’re looking to unwind this Labor Day weekend, why not do so with the music of award-winning singer Charlie Wilson? Wilson, who rose to fame as a member of the Gap Band, is set to put on a live show at Chastain Park. Tickets to the live concert start at $45.

Wonderkid Brunch Takeover
Neighborhood: Midtown
It’s no secret that Wonderkid is one of the most anticipated restaurants to open this year. If their fall opening seems just a tad too distant, you can get a sneak peak of the upcoming all-day breakfast eatery thanks to an upcoming pop-up event at The Lawrence. Wonderkid will host a brunch takeover at the Midtown restaurant with a selection of items from their menu. Among those items are the Meatloaf Melt, Eggs In Hell and Blueplate Breakfast.

Dragon Con Parade
Neighborhood: Downtown
There’s nothing quite like seeing your favorite characters from comics, television and film come alive on Peachtree Street. Serving as an unofficial kickoff to Dragon Con, the parade brings in thousands of locals and visitors every year. Be sure to arrive early to secure your spot on Peachtree.

Atlanta Natural Life Festival
Neighborhood: Historic Old Fourth Ward
Serving as a celebration of mindfulness, natural food and healthier living, the Atlanta Natural Life Festival will feature a Vegan Food Truck Village, vendors, food, music and a Kids Zone. Absolutely free to attend, there will also be plenty of natural product samples, mindful food options and of course, good vibes.

House In The Park
Neighborhood: Grant Park
A Labor Day weekend staple, the increasingly popular House In The Park is a lively celebration of house music. Be sure to grab your dancing shoes as you take in tunes from a rotating lineup of DJs, including Kai Alce, Kemit, Salah Ananse and Ramon Rawsoul. General admission to House In The Park is $10 and is free for children 10 years old and under.

South By North
Neighborhood: Downtown Decatur
Taking place during the Decatur Book Festival, South By North is a culinary collaboration between Chef Bruce Moffett and Chef Pat Pascarella. The duo’s Sunday supper will feature five courses, a welcome cocktail and a signed copy of Chef Moffett’s “Bruce Moffett Cooks: A New England Chef in a New South Kitchen.” Although both chefs are currently based in the South, they each have origins in New England, so diners can expect an exciting medley of East Coast flavors.
