Delta Blocks Middle Seats, Reduces Passengers: GA Coronavirus

Delta Air Lines announced Wednesday that to keep passengers safe from the coronavirus they are implementing more precautions.

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines announced Wednesday that middle seats will no longer be available on flights. It’s just one of their ways to keep passengers safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

From April 13 through May 31 they will reduce the number of passengers on each flight and block all middle seats.

Delta said in a statement that they have already been following steps over the last few weeks to practice social distancing.

Flights are only boarding 10 people at a time, reminding them to add extra space as they board, and working with customers to find a new seat within their cabin if needed and as space allows.

Food and beverage service has been streamlined on all domestic and international flights to decrease touch points between customers and crew.

The airline said they are working to keep people safe and are therefore, encouraging employees to work from home if they can. Delta is also expanding temperature screenings, offering paid protection for workers who are at higher risk, providing hand sanitizer and other precautions.
