Ex-Fulton Jail Officer Pleads Guilty To Bribery
He received kickbacks from a bail bond employee at the Alpharetta jail, says Fulton's top prosecutor.

ATLANTA, GA — A former Fulton County Jail officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to involvement in a bribery scheme with a bail bondsman, the county's top prosecutor announced. Robert James admitted to receiving $7,000 in kickbacks, District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. said.
While a detention officer at the county's Alpharetta jail, James illegally referred inmates to Gloria Garcia, an employee of AA OK Bail Bonds, from June 2014 through June 2015 in return for the bribes, Howard said in a statement.
James was sentenced to five years of probation and fined $5,000 after pleading guilty to bribery and violation of his oath as a public officer. He also pleaded guilty to engaging as a law enforcement officer in the bail bond business, prohibited by state law.
