Flights Delayed At Hartsfield Atlanta Airport Thursday
Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport has ordered a ground halt Thursday, due to thunderstorms.
ATLANTA, GA — One of the country's busiest airports is experiencing major delays, officials announced Thursday. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport announced a ground halt for some flights Thursday morning due to thunderstorms in the area. On average, some flights are being delayed by nearly 90 minutes.
Travelers are encouraged to check with their local airline for updates.
The National Weather Service said downpours could dump 2 to 4 inches of rain on much of the Atlanta region by Friday, with 6 inch rainfall amounts possible in a few areas.

According to the weather service, a flash flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Friday.
"Very heavy rain will be moving in tonight and continuing through Thursday night," the National Weather Service warned on Wednesday. "Three to four inches of rain with local amounts near six inches are possible. Flooding will continue well after the rain ends."
