Fulton Prosecutor: Man Gets 25 Years for Molesting Girl, 5

The incidents occurred two years ago, say prosecutors; man, 21, must register as a sex offender.

ATLANTA, GA — A 21-year-old man will serve 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl, Fulton County's top prosecutor announced Tuesday. Two years ago, the victim identified Quantavius Speed as the individual who sexually assaulted her, District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. said.

The incidents occurred when the victim was between the ages of 5 and 6, prosecutors said. The victim’s mother reported the suspected rape of her daughter to authorities at Hughes Spalding Hospital-Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The victim also described the sexual assault incidents to counselors at the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, according to Howard

On Nov. 3, Speed was sentenced to 25 years for aggravated child molestation and five years for child molestation, with the sentences to run concurrently, Howard said. Speed must remain on probation for the rest of his life and register as a sex offender.

"If you know of a child who is being sexually abused, I urge you to call the Georgia Child Protective Services Intake Communications Center at 1-855-422-4453," Howard said in a statement. "A report can be made 24 hours a day and seven days a week.”
