GBI To Investigate Shooting By Off-Duty Fulton County Police Officer
A chase began In Clayton County before ending up in Atlanta when the suspect was shot.

ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) will investigate a shooting involving an officer of the Fulton County Police Department.
The FCPD requested the GBI’s help following a shooting involving an off-duty officer on Wednesday morning. The officer was responding in his personal vehicle to a theft at the T-Mobile phone located at 1999 Mt. Zion Parkway in Morrow when he observed a suspect driving away from the business.
The officer continued following the suspect’s vehicle into the City of Atlanta while reporting the incident to 9-1-1. During the event, the officer’s and suspect’s vehicles were involved in a collision. The two men were on Alyson Court when the officer fired his service weapon. The suspect received a gunshot wound, but continued driving, according to authorities.

The Atlanta Police Department became involved, and stopped the suspect’s vehicle was stopped in the 1700 block of Lakewood Avenue. The wounded man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The off-duty Fulton County Police Officer sustained minor injuries.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incident. When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office for review.
