$1 Million Lottery Prize Claimed By 10 Coworkers

Ten employees from the American Honda Motor Company stepped forward to claim a $1 million prize from last week's Powerball drawing. The group matched the first five winning numbers using the Quik Pik option, and purchased their ticket from the AM PM Woodstock Convenience Store. Proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in Georgia.

Canton Man in Coma Following "Horrific" Motocross Accident

After Zack Kelley was involved in a "horrific" motocross accident in south Georgia, the Cherokee County community has come together to raise money for his medical costs. According to family members, Kelley suffered from a collapsed lung and several broken bones and has been in a coma since the accident. You can make your contribution by clicking here.

Georgia Coyote Challenge Starts In March

In attempts to get a handle on the state's coyote population, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has issued a challenge beginning next month. For each coyote killed (up to 5 in total), hunters will receive an entry into a monthly drawing for a lifetime license. Because coyotes did not historically live in the state, there is no closed season for their harvest.

Hospital-To-Hospital Race Celebrates New Northside Cherokee Facility

The new replacement Northside Hospital Cherokee, which opens in May, will be celebrated with a hospital-to-hospital run/walk. Move It On Over – a 4-miler to support the Arthritis Foundation – will be held on Saturday, April 15. The 4-mile route begins at the current Northside Hospital Cherokee with the finish line at the new hospital, which is located at 450 Northside Cherokee Boulevard.

Two Students Arrested For Threats On Douglas County High School

Two students of a Douglas County High School were arrested for making terroristic threats against the school on social media last week. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office did not identify the juveniles, or provide specifics as to the nature of the threat.
