Atlanta Public Schools make decision on whether to resume classes on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

ATLANTA, GA -- As Atlanta began to recuperate from the effects of Hurricane Irma, Atlanta Public Schools announced classes will be canceled for Wednesday Sept. 13. Metro Atlanta will begin to dry out as the fast-moving storm moves north and the sunshine returns Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen said Tuesday on Twitter that "outages, staffing coverage & dangerous road, sidewalk conditions" were factors in the decision to shut down for another day.
