Local Veteran Nationally Honored for #StillServing Other Veterans
VFW Invites All Veterans to Submit Their #StillServing Stories

Gay resident Susan Braswell's dedication to country and community has earned her recognition in the national Veterans of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign. The campaign honors veterans who continue to serve in their community after active duty.
Braswell served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and since her return has dedicated her life to veterans services and causes. As a veterans service officer she helps veterans navigate the often confusing benefit claim process and connects them to resources to treat PTSD, anxiety and depression. Working with programs like Reboot Combat Recovery and the Atlanta VA’s Open Door, she is able to connect veterans with mental health services and with Healing 4 Heroes to pair service
dogs with veterans. She is active in local chapters of the VFW and Disabled Veterans and coordinates between the two organizations on outreach efforts including food drives and fundraisers. One fundraiser that is especially meaningful to her enables local children of wounded, ill, injured or fallen military families to go to a camp specialized for them.
Braswell’s dedicated service to the military and veterans led her to be chosen as one of the few VFW #StillServing Heroes nationwide. VFWinvites all veterans to submit their stories at vfw.org/stillserving.
