ATLANTA, GA -- Police in Atlanta are looking for the man who stabbed another near Mercedes-Benz Stadium after Sunday's Falcons game. Police believe the offender is an Uber driver and are asking the public's help in finding him.

Atlanta Police Lt. Ricardo Vasquez told reporters Friday that investigators believe the stabbing was preceded by a fight. "We had a fan who was going to the game and had a physical altercation," Vasquez said.

The victim, who authorities are not identifying, was in the crosswalk and he felt the individual came to him "aggressively," Vasquez said, "so it did start out as a traffic-related matter," he said, adding that it turned into an altercation.

The victim and offender soon went their separate ways and later that's when the fan noticed that he continued to bleed. "The victim sustained some pretty substantial stab wounds to his back," he said. The man checked into Grady Memorial Hospital, he said.

"We're asking for help because it was in broad daylight and we know there were a lot of people in that area who may have witnessed the altercation," he said.

Vasquez said that they know very little about the other man, other than he may work for a popular ride-sharing service.

"We do believe he is an Uber driver and Uber is cooperating with our investigation," he said.
