Mardi Gras And National Margarita Day: Atlanta This Weekend

ATLANTA, GA — With National Margarita Day taking place Saturday and Mardi Gras season in full swing, this weekend is sure to be one for the books. A variety of refreshing margaritas will be available for sampling at the Grant Park Margarita Festival. And if you’re hungry after the festival, be sure to head to The Roof at Ponce City Market for a crawfish boil at Mardi Gras On The Roof.
If you're hoping to do something a little more low-key, there’s also R&B Yoga Flow and Teacher Appreciation Day at the High Museum of Art. Here’s what is happening around the city:

The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is once again heading to Atlantic Station with a truckload of goodies. At the Atlanta appearance, Hello Kitty fans can purchase a variety of Hello Kitty-branded treats and merchandise. All items are available while supplies last.

Teacher Appreciation Day

It’s always great when an organization gives back to some of the city’s hardest-workers: teachers. On Teacher Appreciation Day at the High Museum of Art, admission is free for teachers and one guest. There will also be art-making workshops and giveaways. And be sure to check out the museum’s special exhibits, including "Virgil Abloh: 'Figures Of Speech.'"

Mardi Gras On The Roof
Neighborhood: Old Fourth Ward
Mardi Gras is heading above the city this weekend thanks to a celebration that will be held at The Roof at Ponce City Market. At the Mardi Gras celebration, they’ll “be tossing beads, serving cajun favorites and pouring Hand Grenades and Hurricanes all day long to the sweet sounds Trio Jockamo featuring Will Scruggs.” And for an added cost, you can purchase a ticket to The Roof’s crawfish boil.

Grant Park Margarita Festival
Neighborhood: Grant Park
The Grant Park Margarita Festival couldn’t come at a better time, as this Saturday is National Margarita Day. A general admission ticket to this boozy festival will get you two margarita tickets and one food item. Upgrade to a VIP ticket for even more sips. There will also be a live DJ and a raffle for a round-trip airline ticket to anywhere in the United States.

Free Poetry Reading By Nikki Giovanni
Neighborhood: Druid Hills
Nikki Giovanni, one of the world’s most celebrated poets, will take part in a free reading right here in Atlanta. Giovanni is especially known for tackling social issues, particularly ones on gender and race. Although the reading is free to attend, it could reach capacity, so be sure to arrive early to securea spot.

Monster Jam
Neighborhood: Downtown
Get ready for a day rocking with excitement at the Atlanta stop for Monster Jam. Described as “the most action-packed live event on four wheels,” Monster Jam will feature appearances from world-class drivers and their trucks. Among the trucks and drivers that will be featured are Jim Koehler (Avenger), Jon Zimmer (Dragon) and Jamey Garner (Over Bored). Tickets to Monster Jam start at $20.
