Mayor Continues Campaign To Encourage Atlanta Residents To Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19
The city is partnering with public and private organizations to address hesitancy and remove barriers.
May 24, 2021
ATLANTA— Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is encouraging all unvaccinated Atlantans over the age of 12 to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and their communities. The City of Atlanta is managing a Vaccine Equity Campaign to ensure that vaccine access is fair, equitable and provides residents with the information needed to make informed decisions about vaccination— especially in the city’s most vulnerable communities. The campaign is seeking to educate residents on the vaccine’s effectiveness, where to get vaccinated and how to make an appointment. This comprehensive campaign has deployed a team of organizers going door-to-door, neighborhood by neighborhood—including local businesses and community events—to reach unvaccinated residents.

Additionally, the campaign addresses common concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine with credible information:
- The vaccine is safe.
- The vaccine is free, even without health insurance.
- A government ID is not required at vaccination sites.
- Evening, weekend and walk-up appointments are available.
- Residents do not need to share immigration status.
- Language interpretation is available at vaccine sites.
Mayor Bottoms expanded access for residents by opening mass vaccination sites at Mercedes Benz Stadium and Georgia International Convention Center last month. The FEMA-run site at Mercedes Benz Stadium is the largest mass-vaccination site in the southeastern United States. To date, more than 350,000 people have received at least one dose at those locations.
