Nearly 500 animals were adopted over Black Friday Adoption weekend through the LifeLine Animal Project in time for the holidays.

ATLANTA, GA – Nearly 500 animals were recently adopted over Black Friday weekend and will be spending the holidays with their new families, according to LifeLine Animal Project. Approximately 288 dogs, 182 cats and two guinea pigs went home with families between Nov. 29 and Dec. 2.
The nonprofit’s previous Black Friday adoption weekend record was set in 2016 with 376 adoptions. All of LifeLine’s shelters participated in the event including DeKalb and Fulton County Animal Services, the LifeLine Community Animal Center and the LifeLine Cat Adoption Center.
Lara Hudson, LifeLine Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services Director said in a news release that the nonprofit is thankful that Atlanta supported this initiative.

“We asked the Atlanta community for their support, and they responded by turning out and adopting more animals [than] ever before during a Black Friday Weekend! To say we are grateful is an understatement,” she says.
LifeLine DeKalb County Animal Services Director, Kerry Moyers-Horten says employees were highly pleased with the adoption weekend results.
“Employees here were overjoyed to see so many pets get adopted, and there was hardly a dry eye in the shelter by the close of Cyber Monday. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support and hope it continues throughout December.”
Those who missed the event can still visit the shelters and adopt a new family member in time for the holidays. Between 40 to 60 animals arrive daily and the adoption fees are low, according to the nonprofit. The animal's spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations are included and negotiable.
