Comedian Heather McMahan's Guide To Atlanta

This Atlanta actress will have you in stitches. She also happens to have some top suggestions on what to do around the city.

Not many people can get 70,000 strangers to tune into their everyday lives on a regular basis. But armed with an infectious personality, an impressive wig collection and the occasional Aperol spritz, comedian Heather McMahan has managed to do just that.

The Atlanta-based actress uses her popular Instagram account to chronicle everything from trips to Trader Joe's to walks with her dog, transforming otherwise-routine errands into short snippets of comedy gold. She does a mean impression of Kris Jenner and has a hilarious roster of alter egos that range from a Mississippi realtor with a wine affinity to a gruff celebrity assistant with a dubious resume.

Though she's lived in New York City and LA, McMahan now resides in Atlanta, where she was born and raised. "I'm proud to be from the South," she says. "Everyone always visits Atlanta and says, 'Wow, I had no idea how cool this city is,' while I’m over here sipping chardonnay saying, 'Duh, y’all!'”

And McMahan has found plenty of success in her hometown. She regularly performs in comedy clubs around the city and recently shot a film, "Family," in Atlanta, alongside Taylor Schilling and Kate McKinnon (you can catch it in theaters this spring!). Her next project will be the launch of her "Absolutely Not" podcast.

When she's not dressed in character, you can catch McMahan hanging out at the Clermont Lounge or grabbing dinner at Storico Fresco, her go-to restaurant for Italian food. See the rest of this funny lady's must-visit Atlanta destinations below — and if you need a good laugh, we'd recommend you check out her Instagram, stat.

The best thing about Atlanta is: The people. We are a very progressive and diverse city rooted in warm, southern hospitality. The South gets a bad rep. I have lived in NYC and LA, and I think Atlanta doesn't get the credit it deserves. We also have an incredible food scene, it’s truly unreal.
