Rain Likely Ahead For the Metro Atlanta Area

ATLANTA, GA – What first appeared to be a banner weekend ahead won’t be too bad, but it won’t be the perfect weather many had foreseen earlier this week either.

After warming up on Friday, the metropolitan area is bracing for rain on Saturday and Sunday as showers and thundershowers are now likely on both days.

Temperatures will remain comfortably in the mid-70s through the middle of next week, but look for spring showers to come with it.

Here's a look at the extended weather forecast for metro Atlanta from the National Weather Service.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 70 degrees. Southeast wind from 5 to 10 mph., with gusts as high as 15 mph. Mostly cloudy that night with a high around 54 degrees. Southeast wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thundershowers after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a high near 74 degrees. Southeast wind from 5 to 10 mph., with gusts as high as 20 mph. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and a thunderstorm after 9 p.m. Cloudy that night with a low temperature of around 58 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Sunday: Showers likely and a possible thunderstorm before 9 a.m., but mostly cloudy with a high near 73 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. A chance of showers and thundershowers before 9 p.m., but partly cloudy that night with a low temperature of around 57 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Monday: A slight chance of showers with thunderstorms also possible after 9 a.m., but partly sunny with a high near 78 degrees. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms that night, mainly after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy that evening with a low temperature of around 57 degrees.
