Rapper Paying For DeKalb Toddler's Funeral: Report

21 Savage will cover the funeral expenses for T'Rhigi Diggs, a 3-year-old shooting victim, say media reports.

ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta rap star has agreed to pay for the funeral Saturday of a 3-year-old boy who was shot to death on the night of Easter Sunday while sitting in the backseat of his mother's car, according to media reports. The service is scheduled for noon Saturday for T’Rhigi Romell Diggs, who was hit in the chest by a bullet fired from a gas station as his mother drove down Eastland Road in DeKalb County.

The offer by rapper 21 Savage, a family friend, is touching and a weight off the family, the boy’s mother, Roshonda Craig, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The DeKalb County police say the gunfire was a random shot, and T’Rhigi was not the intended target.

The police are investigating whether the shooting is related to the paintball "wars" that have happened recently on Atlanta's streets, the AJC reported. The boy's mother said she saw people in a Dodge Charger with paintball guns pull up next to her car before the real gunshot rang out.

The funeral service on Saturday will take place at Israel Baptist Church, at 2071 Hosea L. Williams Drive NE in Atlanta's Kirkwood neighborhood.
