Rescue Dog, Pumpkin, Can Be Your Valentine

Pumpkin is just one of the dogs and cats available for adoption now at the Atlanta Humane Society's Howell Mill Campus.

ATLANTA, GA — There's no better time to fall in love than Valentine's Day, right? Well, if you've been thinking about adding a pet to your life, why not give your heart to a rescue animal like Pumpkin this year?

She's a small, spayed terrier/pit bull mix who is currently up for adoption at the Atlanta Humane Society's Howell Mill Campus. Pumpkin is about a year old and was spayed on Feb. 2, according to the Humane Society.

"I am currently awaiting my forever home so that I can give kisses all day!" reads her profile on the shelter's website. The adoption fee for dogs like Pumpkin is $125.

To adopt a dog or cat from the Atlanta Humane Society, you can contact an adoption counselor seven days a week at 404-875-5331 or email Howell Mill adoptions or Mansell adoptions with any questions you may have.

The Humane Society has campuses at 981 Howell Mill Rd. NW and 1565 Mansell Rd. in Alpharetta. The adoption centers at both are open noon-7 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The adoption interview and paperwork usually takes about an hour to complete and you'll be able to take your adopted animal home with you when the paperwork is completed. Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.

AHS does not hold animals and all adoptions are done on a first come, first served basis. Certain exceptions may apply. The Humane Society accepts debit cards, credit cards and cash for adoption fees. They do not accept personal checks.
