Runoff Elections: Atlanta Voters Go To Polls Tuesday

Voters will choose a new mayor, City Council president and decide other council, Board of Education races.

ATLANTA, GA — Voters in Atlanta will go to the polls next week to pick a new mayor and fill a number of seats on the City Council and Board of Education in runoff elections. The polls on Tuesday, Dec. 5, will remain open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. at all precincts and polling places within the City of Atlanta in Fulton County and in DeKalb County.

Each race pits the top two finishers in the Nov. 7 general election in contests in which no candidate won more than 50 percent of the vote. In the mayor's race, City Council member Keisha Lance Bottoms is taking on council member Mary Norwood.

In DeKalb County, voters will choose:

  • Mayor
  • City Council President
  • Board of Education District 3 Member
  • Board of Education District 7 At-Large Member

Persons voting in DeKalb precincts/polling places between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. will be required to vote a provisional ballot because the electronic voting machines will cut-off at 7 p.m. to coincide with voting hours throughout the rest of DeKalb County.
