Southern Wing Showdown And Summer Halloween: Atlanta This Weekend

ATLANTA, GA — If you find yourself counting down the days until Halloween and all the spooky fun that comes along with the holiday, here’s your chance to have a little Halloween fun weeks before. The Bakery Atlanta will be holding a Summer Halloween Carnivale complete with a costume contest, tarot readings and more.

If you're not quite ready for Halloween festivities, there’s also the Southern Wing Showdown, the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival and plenty of other summer fun to partake in. Here’s what else is happening around the city:

Summer Halloween Carnivale at The Bakery Atlanta

Neighborhood: Oakland City

Halloween may still be weeks away, but that isn’t stopping The Bakery Atlanta from getting in on the fun early. Their pre-Halloween event will consist of an ample number of activities, including tarot readings, henna paintings, costume contest, a photo booth and much more. In addition to being free, everyone who RSVPs via Eventbrite will receive a free raffle ticket.

Grant Park Summer Shade Festival

Neighborhood: Grant Park

With temperatures continuing to soar, the shade is exactly where you want to be this weekend. And you can expect plenty of shade at the annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. Serving as a sort of farewell to summer, the festival will include live music, a street market and mouthwatering food from a variety of vendors.

Princess Brunch: The Little Mermaid

Neighborhood: Old Fourth Ward

If you want to be where the people are, then “The Little Mermaid” edition of Princess Brunch at Venkman’s is absolutely calling your name. During this brunch, sing-a-long to “The Little Mermaid” classics as you sip on mimosas and dine on brunch favorites at this popular restaurant.

Slow Food ATL’s 13th Annual Ice Cream Social

Neighborhood: Buckhead

At the peak of summer, there are few things greater than an ice cream social. If you’ve yet to have your fill of ice cream this summer, be sure to add Slow Food ATL’s 13th Annual Ice Cream Social to your calendar. Taking place at The Cathedral of St. Philip, the ice cream social will partner local chefs with amateurs to craft unique ice cream flavors. Just try not to be defeated by brain freeze.

ATL Wine + Spirits Fest

Neighborhood: Midtown

Wine connoisseurs and spirits aficionados, this festival is just for you. The ATL Wine + Spirits Fest will highlight wine, beer and spirits from across the globe. In addition to samples, the cost of admission to the festival also includes a souvenir tasting glass and a donation to Piedmont Park. Tickets to the event start at $49 per person.

For The Love Of R&B Music Fest

Neighborhood: Oakland City

If you're in search of a little nostalgia this weekend, consider Apache Café's For The Love Of R&B Music Fest. The music-centric festival is “rewinding it back to a time where life was good and music even better” with their special 90s Edition. In addition to live music, the outdoor event will include plenty of food and drink for attendees to purchase.

Southern Wing Showdown

Neighborhood: West Midtown

Whether or not Atlanta is the wing capital of the world is arguable, but we certainly love our wings, whether they're fried, grilled or dripping in sauce. For wing lovers, you’ll have the opportunity to sample quite the variety of wings at the Southern Wing Showdown. 15 chefs from across the Southeast are set to bring their best to the Showdown, which will take place at The Fairmont.
