Taco & Tequila Crawl And Decatur Beach Party: Atlanta This Week

Indulge in wine tastings, food samplings and live music at the Atlanta Wine Walk 2019 or unwind at Tunes By The Tracks.

ATLANTA, GA – No beach? No problem. This Friday, downtown Decatur will welcome an impressive 80 tons of sand for their annual Decatur Beach Party. Sand aside, this weekend will also pay tribute to our Northern neighbors during Canada Fest, as well as celebrate the opening of Avondale Estates’ The Lost Druid Brewery.

And since wine is always welcome, there’s the inaugural Atlanta Wine Walk. Here's what else is happening around the city:

Decatur Beach Party

Neighborhood: Downtown Decatur

The nearest beach might be hours away, but that hasn’t stopped the Decatur Business Association from holding their annual Decatur Beach Party for the past several years. Serving as a kick-off to summer, the free beach bonanza will feature food trucks, boardwalk fare, frozen treats, a selection of local Decatur craft beers and of course, a lot of sand (80 tons to be exact). Tunes from DJ Quasi Mandisco and Boogie Band will keep the good vibes going until well into the evening.

Where: Decatur Square, 101 East Court Square

When: Friday, Jun. 21, at 5 p.m.

Tunes By The Tracks

Neighborhood: Stone Mountain Village

Tunes By The Tracks has served as a staple in Stone Mountain Village for quite some time and for good reason. This week’s tunes come courtesy of the Atlanta-based Diane Durrett & Soul Suga. Additionally, Tunes By The Tracks’ central location in Stone Mountain Village makes it ideal for stopping by favorites like Gilly Brew Bar and the newly-opened Coze Tea Studio.

Where: Municipal Parking Lot, Main Street

When: Friday, Jun. 21, at 7 p.m.

Taco & Tequila Crawl

Neighborhood: Midtown

While a number of restaurant crawls have you relegated to drinking specialty shots in random bars, one Atlanta-based crawl is putting the taco in the spotlight. For those taking part in this weekend’s Taco & Tequila Crawl in Midtown, you’ll have the chance to try out at least four different tacos as you make your way from restaurant to restaurant.

Where: Various Locations In Midtown

When: Saturday, Jun. 22, at 12 noon.

Canada Fest

Neighborhood: Sandy Springs

Given that Canada is far from a mere hop, skip and jump from Atlanta, it’s not often that we have the opportunity to celebrate our Northern neighbors. Well, that is until now. Meehan’s in Sandy Springs will hold a full-on Canada extravaganza, complete with street hockey, music from local Canadian musicians and a menu filled with Canadian favorites.

Where: Meehan's Public House, 227 Sandy Springs Place

When: Saturday, Jun. 22, at 12 noon.

Atlanta Wine Walk 2019

Neighborhood: The Battery

At The Battery’s first ever Atlanta Wine Walk, attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in wine tastings, food samplings, live music and much more.
