Mailing your tax return and running late? Only one post office in the metro Atlanta area is open until midnight, ensuring a May 17 postmark.
GEORGIA — If you’re mailing your tax return late today, there’s only one post office in the metro Atlanta area that will accept it after hours and ensure that it’s postmarked on May 17.
The U.S. Post Office near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport — located at 3900 Crown Road — is open until midnight, according to U.S. Postal Service spokesperson Rick Badie.
The only other post office that’s open somewhat past regular business hours is in Duluth at 1605 Boggs Road, which is open until 7 p.m. Unlike past years, the Boggs Road location is not offering drive-thru service until midnight.

- Be sure to send it to the correct address. Not all returns go to the same address. Wherever you send it, make sure you’ve written both your mailing address and return address clearly on the envelope. The IRS lists its mailing addresses on its website.
- Use enough postage. Most tax returns are several pages long and weigh more than an ounce. If you send your return without enough postage, it will be returned.
