Traffic Alert: Bridge Work In Downtown Atlanta
GDOT will close part of Decatur Street this weekend in downtown Atlanta, near the Georgia State Capitol, for bridge beam placement.

ATLANTA, GA — As part of the Courtland Street Bridge Replacement Project, construction workers this weekend will close a portion of Decatur Street in downtown Atlanta to set 21 steel beams across three bridge spans above the street, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced Wednesday.
The work is part of a $25 million project to reconstruct the 110-year-old Courtland Street Bridge from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Gilmer Street. The bridge is near the Georgia State Capitol and serves as a major thoroughfare through the campus of Georgia State University.
Decatur Street will be closed in both directions from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday between Piedmont Avenue and Peachtree Center Avenue (see map below). The exact dates may change due to weather or other factors, GDOT said.
