Tropical Storm Predicted For North Georgia On Father's Day
The National Weather Service predicts Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 will grow to Tropical Storm Claudette and reach North GA late Saturday.

ATLANTA — Father's Day could be soggy in Georgia if meteorologists are on point.
A tropical storm is predicted to cross over North Georgia and the metro Atlanta area this weekend, the National Weather Service said on Friday.
Currently, the weather system tracking its way toward Georgia is Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 but is anticipated to reach Tropical Storm status — sustained wind speeds of over 35 mph — before it makes landfall in Louisiana early Saturday morning, NOAA Meteorologist Kyle Thiem told Patch.

“It is anticipated to become a tropical storm,” Thiem said. “If it does, it would be named Tropical Storm Claudette.”
While the weather system is expected to slow down somewhat by the time Georgians begin feeling its impact early Saturday afternoon, you can expect windy conditions and heavy rain of between 2 and 4.5 inches.

“With that amount of rainfall, there could be some concerns of flooding,” Thiem said. “Areas that are low-lying or flood-prone could experience could be particularly affected. The heaviest of rain will come down through the day on Sunday.”
He said rain should begin to taper off Sunday evening.
