Where To Find Gas In GA: Colonial Pipeline Attack
Gas shortages are being reported in parts of GA following the cybersecurity attack on the Colonial Pipeline. Here's how to find gas.
ATLANTA, GA — Nearly three out of every five gas stations in metro Atlanta were out of gas Wednesday morning, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, as Georgia and the southeast grapple with the effects of Colonial Pipeline's temporary shutdown.
Alpharetta-based Colonial Pipeline Company — which provides roughly 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the east coast to more than 50 million Americans — was the victim of a cybersecurity attack last Friday.
The attack led to the shutdown of the pipeline while the company's officials work to bring it back to normal operations. Gov. Brian Kemp issued a state of emergency in Georgia Tuesday prohibiting price gouging as a result of the petroleum shortage — and all this news is causing a panic among Georgians and Americans across the southeast region.
