Known for his spoken word poetry and dedication to creating safe spaces where any individual can tell their truth, Marquice L. Williams will share the stage with a few of Barrow’s fearless student writers in an evening of original music and spoken word poetry. Spellbinding vocal performances will be lifted high as the sun sets over the lake at the Innovation Amphitheater. Download the event flyer.
A sample of Metro Atlanta’s only fully-professional part-time symphonic orchestra will come to Barrow to share the art and science of the strings of the orchestra. Under the direction of the JCSO maestro, the individual beauty and nature of each stringed voice will be spotlighted before the quartet plays together in concert for the audience.
In this Bilingual Barber of Seville performance, the opera’s most famous barber, Figaro, plays the role of translator, as the Atlanta Opera Studio Tour takes center stage in the amphitheater. Perfect for all ages, this adaptation is performed in English and Spanish and demonstrates the power of love to triumph over adversity of every kind.
The Ah Surely Irish music and dance trio will showcase the history and culture of Ireland in an energetic foot-tapping, hand-clapping interactive concert of music and movement. The sounds of traditional Irish instruments and “hard shoe” step dancing are sure to lift your spirits as you take part in this lively affair.
Ah Surely is a trio of three performers and teaching artists: John Maschinot (uilleann pipes, flute, penny whistle, and bodhran), Evan Kinney (guitar, vocals, and fiddle), and Claire Shirey (Irish Step dance, fiddle, and concertina). They’ve performed at numerous schools, festivals, and on concert stages throughout the Southeast.
