The Barrow County School System will name its newest facility the Sims Academy of Innovation and Technology, the Barrow Journal reports. .
The name recognizes the late LaFar Dupree Sims, former principal of the segregation-era Glenwood High and Elementary School in Winder. The Barrow County School System, in conjunction with Lanier Technical College, broke ground June 25 on the $24 million joint campus.
