Downtown Winder Restaurant Scores 75 on Recent Health Inspection

Two other Barrow establishments had mold buildup on ice machine deflector shields.

  • Violation of: 2-1B. Hands clean and properly washed — An employee was observed changing gloves without washing hands.
  • Violation of: 2-1C. No bare hand contact with ready-to-eat foods — An employee was observed touching RTE (ready to eat) foods with bare hands. COS (corrected on site). 
  • Violation of: 6-1B. Proper hot holding temperatures — Baked potatoes hot held less than 135 degrees. COS by discarding. 

Non-critical violations: 

  • Violation of: 12A. Contamination prevented during food preparation, storage & display — Drink syrup box stored on top of trash can and on floor under handsink in bar area. 
  • Violation of: 12C. Wiping cloths: properly used and stored — Multiple wiping cloths stored on numerous surfaces in kitchen not stored in sanitizer solution. 
  • Violation of: 14A. In-use utensils: properly stored — Cup was being used as a scoop in bulk sugar.

  • Violation of: 8-2B. Toxic substances properly identified, stored, used — Insect poison placed in sauce cups on three window sills in dining room beside dining table tops. Corrected on site by instructing manager to discard poison and sanitize table tops and window sills.

  • Violation of: 15A. Food and nonfood-contact surfaces cleanable, properly designed, constructed, and used — Glass door reach-in cooler at wait station with water pooling in bottom and running out onto floor surface. 
  • Violation of: 17C. Physical facilities installed, maintained, and clean — HVAC return grate missing. Excessive dust exposed in duct work. Additional vent grates in kitchen and walk-in cooler with excessive dust build-up. *REPEAT VIOLATION
