Gas Leak Shuts Down Highway 211 on Monday
The leak occurred in the area of Cedar Creek Road.

A gas leak along Ga. Highway 211 shut down the roadway Monday, July 29.
Just before 10 a.m., communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call reporting a gas leak in the area of 211 and Cedar Creek Road.
“Upon arrival firefighters found members of the gas department on the scene attempting to stop the leak,” Battalion Chief Jonathon Franklin said in a news release. “Crews assisted Barrow County Sheriff and Winder Police Department in shutting down roads in the area including Highway 211.”

Engine 5 remained on the scene for more than nine hours while gas crews contained the leak. Sheriff's office deputies and officers from the Winder Police Department kept roadways closed after the firefighter left the scene.
