Hoschton Man, 19, Charged with Murder in Stabbing Death of Father

Police believe a fight between the men had a tragic outcome on the street in front of their Hoschton-area home near the Barrow-Gwinnett line

Gwinnett Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for the Wednesday stabbing death of his father.

Police said witnesses saw David Trent Walker standing over his father, David Walker, after the two had been fighting after 2 p.m. Wednesday at 1633 Country Wood Drive in unincorporated Hoschton.

WSB-TV reported police believe the two men began fighting inside the residence and it spilled outside, where the father, 46, was found with stab wounds. He later died at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

David Trent Walker has been charged with murder, and is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County jail on murder charge.

Police arrived at the scene at 2:27 p.m. Wednesday in the Trilogy Park subdivision just off Braselton Highway near the Barrow County line.

“Witnesses reported seeing an assault with a white male standing over a clearly injured second white male in the street,” Gwinnett Police said in a Wednesday afternoon email. “The injured subject had apparently been stabbed and was transported from the scene by ambulance. He died a short time later as a result of his injuries.”

The Gwinnett Daily Post called Trilogy Park, where the Walkers live in a 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home, an “affluent subdivision” with large homes and well-kept yards.

The motive was unclear and detectives were not ruling out self-defense as a factor, WSB reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
