Police: Winder Man Exposed Himself at Strip Club; Found with Ankles Tied Together

Report: A UGA football player helped remove the man from the club

A Winder man was found on the ground outside an Athens strip club early Thursday morning after police said he exposed himself to a dancer and started a fight.

The man, Joseph Kirkland, 69, was found outside Toppers International Showbar on Jackson Street, according to a police news release. The incident happened around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, police said.

The Athens Banner-Herald reported Kirkland’s ankles were tied together with shoestrings after he was removed from the club. The newspaper also reported University of Georgia football player Zach DeBell helped carry the man outside.

Police said in the press release a bouncer allegedly hit Kirkland while he was on the ground.

Kirkland was charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication. The bouncer, Andrew Ho Kim, was charged with battery and possession of marijuana.
