Publishing for Visibility: Use Your Blog to Spread the Word

Blog your way to the top! Here's how you can use Barrow Patch blogs to drive more traffic to your website.

A blog is an incredible tool that allows Patch readers to share ideas and communicate on a local level.

But blogs are also an excellent tool for businesses and organizations to promote their own online visibility. Groups with an existing blog now have access to the first truly local online network which provides a vehicle to promote yourself within your community!

Visibility Tip: To get the most bang for your buck when blogging for visibility, remember that Patch readers are visiting our sites at different times and on different days of the week. Make your posts are brief and spread them out throughout the week in order to cast a wider net and catch more of the Patch audience. And always add a photo to your posts—they'll stand out more on the homepage!

Here are a couple of examples of Patch bloggers who are maximizing the visibility of their posts:

  • Local weather expert Steve Brueck writes a blog focused on Northeast Georgia weather. He also links to the information on his own website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
  • Braselton-based dog trainer/dog boarder Penny Miller writes a pet blog featured tips, anecdotes and photos from her work. She also uses the Desperate Dogs Facebook page to spread the word about her business.
  • Local realtor Matt Hermes utilizes his Patch blog, Facebook page, website and Twitter account to get the maximum visibility for his posts.
