Two Dead After Suspect Fights Cops With Baseball Bat
Georgia state police say people beat the second deceased person with a bat, trying to stop the original attack.

BRASELTON, GA — State and local authorities in Georgia are still piecing together a strange incident that left two people dead Tuesday, including a man who fought sheriff's deputies with a baseball bat.
The deadly incident happened early Tuesday at 1168 Old Hog Mountain Rd. in Braselton, where Barrow County sheriff's deputies found the body of a man inside a shed.
The man was identified Wednesday as Stanley Hugh Ivy, Jr., 47, of Hoschton.

When they arrived, deputies also encountered a "belligerent and combative" man brandishing a baseball bat, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He's been identified as Whitney Kyle Stovall, 31, of Winder.
Stovall was taken into custody after a struggle and died on the scene, the GBI said.

Deputies learned that, during the earlier attack, family members of Ivy struck Stovall several times with a baseball bat, trying to intervene.
Due to the complexity of the situation, Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith requested assistance from the GBI's office in Athens.
Both have been transported to the GBI crime lab for autopsies.
