What You Need to Know to Get Free School Supplies for Your Child

The Back to School Bash, an event during which parents can obtain free school supplies, will be held Tuesday.

Barrow County Family Connection/Communities in Schools is holding its annual Back to School Bash on Tuesday, July 30, and will be giving away school supplies to families in need. 

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barrow County Leisure Service Center at 175 Second St. in Winder, and supplies will be given on a first-come, first-served basis while they last. 

While the supplies are free, there are some things parents need to do to obtain supplies. Here are the rules for the Back to School Bash, courtesy of Barrow County Family Connection/Communities in Schools: 

1. You must be a Barrow County resident and have proof of residency to receive supplies. 
2. No one will be able to line up pr wait inside the building. Attendees can begin lining up at 5:30 p.m. outside and should follow all directions given by volunteers. 
3. Anyone pushing, shoving or breaking in line will be asked to leave without receiving supplies. 
4. Children must remain with parents or guardians at all times. 
5. Anyone who is disrespectful to volunteers or vendors will be asked to leave without receiving supplies. 
6. All attendees must visit every vendor and have a card signed by vendors to receive supplies. Do not crowd the vendor tables. 
7. Leisure services employees cannot answer questions about the event. Find a volunteer. 
8. Book bags and supplies will be distributed until they run out. There will be no waiting list.
