Doom Befalls Historic Shutze Mansion in Buckhead

The historic home will be torn down after all, possibly as soon as Wednesday.

ATLANTA, GA -- After weeks of speculation about its future, a historic Buckhead mansion will fall to the wrecking ball, possibly as soon as Wednesday.

The new owner of the Maddox House reportedly had a change of heart a couple of weeks ago, and met with local preservation groups about renovating the mansion instead of tearing it down.

Now, Curbed Atlanta is reporting that Dallas Clement, the CFO for Cox Enterprises, will indeed destroy the home, designed by renowned architect Philip Trammell Shutze. Clement purchased the Tuxedo Road mansion for $2.2 million.
