Fuqua Development’s ambitious Lindbergh Park project is set to begin work now that the company has closed on the purchase of the 13.5 acre plot near Piedmont Road and Lindbergh Drive, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The property sits on a block surrounded by Piedmont Road and Morogoso and Lindbergh drives.

The development will feature an 82,000 sq. ft. Kroger, 190 age-restricted apartments, and another 128 residential units, the Chronicle says.

Back in 2012, Fuqua wanted to build a Walmart on the site to anchor a different development, but met with resistance from neighborhood leaders who felt the plans were too “suburban” for the area. Lindbergh City Center is among the first transit-oriented projects in the city.

The Kroger should be open by next fall, the Chronicle says.
