Advance Voting on SPLOST Extension Starts Monday, Oct. 14

Early voting scheduled later in October at satellite locations.

Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 14, in Lawrenceville and on other dates in October at satellite locations on extending the SPLOST in Gwinnett County.

Officially, Election Day in Gwinnett occurs Tuesday, Nov. 5. Voters in Buford and other parts of the county will determine whether or not to renew the current 1 percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

The Gwinnett County Elections Office at 455 Grayson Hwy. in Lawrenceville will be the site of advance voting starting Monday.

On Oct. 26 and again from Oct. 28-Nov. 1, voters can also cast ballots at other satellite locations:

Satellite voting hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 28- Nov. 1. Saturday voting hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 26.

Registered voters standing in line at closing time will be allowed to remain until they've voted.

The last day to vote by absentee ballot or advance in person is Friday, November 1.

The 1 percent SPLOST expires in March 2014, and voter approval would extend the tax for three years. Officials from the county and the cities plan to use most of the proceeds for transportation projects.
