Fire Completely Destroys Buford Home

BUFORD, GA – A home has been declared a total loss after an overnight fire displaced two adults who were living there in. the 4100 block of Autumn Lake Drive NE in BufordThere were no reported injuries.

Firefighters responded at 7:45 p.m. to a neighbor’s 911 report of a house fire, reporting flames were coming out of the roof.

Fire crews arrived on scene and found the home fully engulfed with flames, with the two residents already outside. Crews deployed a large attack line to begin fighting the blaze from the front yard with smaller lines in use inside. Per the incident commander, the homeowner was heating oil on the stove in the kitchen and fell asleep.

A neighbor saw flames and awakened the homeowner with knocks on the front door. Smoke alarms were in the home but it’s unclear if they were activated by the fire or not.

The ladder truck had to be setup with the aerial being raised in order to knock the fire down from above the structure. After approximately twenty minutes of flowing water from the ladder truck, firefighters were able to begin fighting the flames from inside of the structure. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the two adults that have been displaced.

A fire investigator’s findings confirmed that the fire did originate in the kitchen due to cooking.

Equipment at the scene: 2-Engines, 1-Truck, 1-Squad-, 1-Medical Unit, 1-Air and Light, 2-Battalion Chiefs and 1-Fire Investigator.
