McDonald's Near Mall of Georgia Fails Inspection

A "pink fluid substance" in a vegetable sink was just one of the problems noted.

BUFORD, GA — A popular McDonald's near the Mall of Georgia failed its health inspection this week.

The restaurant, at 3210 Buford Dr. in Buford, was inspected on Sunday and scored a 65/U.

"Today's visit was unsatisfactory ... multiple risk factors in violation," read the inspector's report.

Among the problems was a "pink fluid substance" discovered in a vegetable sink, along with an empty disposable cup and a utensil. Vegetable sinks are supposed to be only for washing fruits and vegetables.

An open bag of onions was found to be in direct contact with raw meat. There was cheese that had no "best by" time stamp on it.

A jug of glass cleaner was being stored on a vegetable sink, three employees were wearing bracelets while cooking and two employees' drinks, with no secure lids or straws, were being stored on top of kitchen equipment.

Inspectors also observed wet wiping cloths being stored on hand-washing sinks and an employee's glasses and cell phones being stored in a to-go container.

Per policy, inspectors will visit the restaurant again in the next 10 days to see if observed violations have been corrected. If not, the restaurant runs the risk of being shut down while problems are addressed.
