GBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting, Suspect Dead

The GBI is investigating a Gwinnett County police officer-involved shooting in Buford that has killed a man accused of a domestic dispute.

BUFORD, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is currently investigating an officer involved shooting at 3712 Suwanee Mill Dr. unincorporated Buford.

Gwinnett County Police Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a man and his wife. When the officers arrived, the man was standing outside with a knife in his hand, police reported.

As the officers gave verbal commands, the man went inside and came back out with a handgun, police said. The officers negotiated with the man to drop the gun, but he refused, according to police. After several minutes, he pointed his gun at several officers, police said.

One officer shot, striking the man. The officers on scene attempted to render aid, but the man died at the scene. The identities of the man and the officer are not being released at this time.
