Soldier From Buford Killed in Afghanistan

An American soldier from Buford, Ga., was killed in a non-combat incident in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.
Spc. Kyle E. Gilbert, 24, died Monday, Sept. 21, in Bagram, Afghanistan, where he was supporting Operation Freedom Sentinel.
Details were not released. Gilbert’s death is under investigation.

Gilbert was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York, according to a news release.
