SWAT Standoff Ends With Arrest After Threats To Officers: Police
A Sunday afternoon SWAT standoff in Buford ended with an arrest after the man threatened to shoot officers, police said.
BUFORD, GA -- A Sunday afternoon SWAT standoff in Buford ended with an arrest after the man threatened to shoot officers, police said.
The name of the man arrested in the standoff has not yet been released by police. Police said he had at least three active warrants for his arrest, one for was motor vehicle theft. The man may face additional charges, according to authorities.
Officers assigned to the North Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at around 10:30 a.m. The complainant asked for officers to meet him at a vacant convenience store at Thompson Mill Road and Pebblebrook Drive in Buford. He wanted to report an incident involving his daughter and her boyfriend.

While officers were talking with the man about his daughter’s boyfriend, a call came into the 911 Center from the home where the boyfriend lives. The complainant told the 911 call-taker that the boyfriend was inside the home armed with a gun threatening to shoot law enforcement officers and possibly commit suicide.
Officers were able to get all the family members out of the home. While speaking with the family, they learned that earlier in the day, the girlfriend was riding in her car while the man was driving. He began driving aggressively. She asked to get out of the vehicle, but he refused.

The officers were also told the man was possibly doing drugs. The SWAT Team was activated. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the man was arrested by the SWAT Team.
