Canton Flood Warning: Cherokee Emergency Management

Flooding is expected to continue for some time, though it's only a minor flood.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency is warning residents of flooding, namely from the Etowah River near East Canton, according to officials.

At 3:45 a.m. Monday, the state was 18 feet and rising slowly, the Cherokee EMA said on their Facebook page. At 17 feet, the river floods.

Most of the flooding, which is minor as of now, is happening in the woodlands and fields around the river, generally east of Canton near the I-575 bridge. A grassy lot and rock landing behind the pump station off Riverstone Parkway has begun to flood as well.
