Cherokee Firefighter Retires After 18 Years of Service
Lt. Charles Reece was presented with the "bugle" award for his 18 years of service.
From Cherokee County Fire Department: Cherokee County firefighter, Lt. Charles Reece, was recognized today at the Fire Chief’s office due to his upcoming retirement from the fire department.
Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather thanked Reece for his 18 years of service to the citizens of Cherokee County and presented him with a “bugle” award.
The bugle or speaking trumpet is a reference to a megaphone like device that was used in the early days of the fire service. Cherokee County Assistant Chief Eddie Robinson and Field Operations Chief Greg Erdely were also on-hand for the presentation.

Reece began his career with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services on Jan. 4, 1999. His last shift with the department will be this coming Saturday.
Reece was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Jan. 6 , 2002 and was later promoted to lieutenant on Feb. 8, 2009. Reece and his wife, Karen, reside in Blue Ridge with their four sons. We wish Reece many happy years of retirement!
