Clark Creek's STEM Academy Named Microsoft Showcase School

The Cherokee County elementary school is being honored for its integration of educational technology in the classroom.

CANTON, GA — Clark Creek Elementary School's STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Academy has earned global recognition for its leadership in using technology for teaching and learning.

The school, near Acworth, has been selected by Microsoft as a 2018-19 Microsoft Showcase School in honor of its successful integration of educational technology in the classroom to benefit students and teachers. Only 39 schools nationwide were selected as showcase schools.

Clark Creek ES STEM Academy is one of only three schools in Georgia named to the list, which includes the Holly Springs Elementary School STEM Academy.

“Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy is a model for how teachers and staff can harness the power of technology to advance student learning and equip them with real-world knowledge,” Cherokee County School Superintendent Brian Hightower said in a statement. “Outstanding teachers will never be replaced by technology, but we want all of our teachers to master these resources for the benefit of their students.”

As a showcase school, Clark Creek will have access to additional Microsoft resources and support and the opportunity to share innovative best practices with other top schools.
