Dealing With a Consumer Unfriendly Bank in Canton, Georgia
Why would Sun Trust (Canton Branch) open an account then close it and refuse to give a customer back their $6,665.44?

So why is this article posted?
Simple, all the details are laid out in great detail on the blog site: https://williamrogersceo.blogs... also at https://suntrustsucks.blogspot... but a lot of readers won't bother to go take a look, so here is the Reader's Digest Summary of my dealings with Sun Trust Bank -
I opened a checking account with the Canton (Ga) branch of Sun Trust Bank on 3/4/19, the funds from my opening Wells Fargo check got to Sun Trust the same day and the following day, with no notice to me, the Sun Trust 'Fraud Dept' decided to put a hold on the account.

A few days later I was informed by mail that the reason was "We have confidential information that indicates the check may not be paid."
Although the letter was undated the franking was from 3/6/19, or 2 days AFTER Sun Trust got the funds from my Wells Fargo checking account.

I was also informed that the 'hold' on the $6,665.44 would be available after 9 a.m. 3/12/19. However it was never a 'hold' the account was in fact CLOSED.
A dozen internet consumer sites* now have this information and more will have it shortly, as will a selection of bank officers from BB&T and many news outlets.
From my own research on SunTrust I have found other similar complaints of potential customers leaving Sun Trust banks thinking that they had new accounts only to find out, as I did, that some pin head from their 'Fraud Dept' decided to close the account. They actually have a division called the 'Account Closing Department'.
It seems like they enjoy closing accounts for bogus reasons BUT they do NOT like returning your money as I found out today 3/28/19 when I spent 15 minutes on the phone with them and was told by a supervisor that the matter was 'under review'.
What is to REVIEW? They have had $6,665.44 of my money for the past 24 days and I suspect that they have no intention of returning any of it, rather they will simply convert it to their selves for their own use.
I have put up 2 blog sites, complete with all relevant paperwork and hopefully anytime a consumer 'googles' SunTrust/Sun Trust, they will find at least one link leading to my experience with Sun Trust bank.
I don't know of any reason why a consumer would entrust their funds to such a shady financial institution. More details are found at:
