East Cherokee Drive Closure Starts July 9
The road will be closed between Ball Ground Highway and 15990 E. Cherokee Drive for repairs to the existing railroad crossing.

BALL GROUND, GA — The Cherokee County Roads and Bridges Division will close a segment of East Cherokee Drive next week to accommodate a project to improve an existing railroad crossing.
East Cherokee Drive will be closed to through traffic from Ball Ground Highway to 15990 East Cherokee Drive July 9-11 for necessary repairs and reconstruction of the existing railroad crossing.
The county notes trucks will only be allowed to use East Cherokee Drive from the landfill south to Cumming Highway/S.R. 20 to access businesses along this road.

Cherokee County is also reminding motorists that East Cherokee Drive south of Cumming Highway/S.R. 20 is a restricted truck route, and trucks that weigh more than 18 tons, have more than three axles and over 30 feet long are not allowed on this segment of the road — unless they are making a delivery to a location on this stretch of road.

Please follow the marked detour signs either using Highway 372 or Interstate 575.

A posted detour will be provided during the duration of the construction. The detour route utilizes the south end of East Cherokee Drive to S.R. 20, Ball Ground Highway to Interstate 575 to S.R. 20, and S.R. 372 to S.R. 369 to S.R. 20.
